Somewhere

For this project, I decided to use a still from my favorite film ever, Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now.

Here are the two original images:

Movie Still

Self-Portrait

And of course, the final product:

Overall I had a good time with this project! It was a fun exercise.

  1. Matt, I think the concept of this is good and the outcome looks very smooth and well done but I think you could've adjusted the lighting for your photo that was inserted so it would look as though you were actually in the movie because there is still a blue hue surrounding you in the final product. Is that maybe the look that you were going for? Great job regardless!

  2. This is a really awesome project! I think you did a really good job at putting your face into the water. It looks like you are in the smoke almost submerged. A suggestion I have is that it might have been cool if you put some of the wisps of smoke over your face like the other face has.

  3. This is a really cool project and I enjoyed Apocalypse Now. One suggestion is to blend the top of your hair more with the scene, and maybe add a smoke overlay to the top of your head too. Great job!

  4. Matt, I'm a huge fan of this movie and love that you chose it for your project. Overall it came out great and I think the scale and positioning of your face help pull off the look. My only suggestion would be to somehow reduce the intensity of the blue light on your face. The darkness of it contrasts with the pale moonlight on Willard's face, and therefore throwing the whole effect. Keep up the great work man.
